SPECIAL EPISODE: Fermi Paradox: Where are they? A Debate with Fraser Cain Moderated by Skylias

This past weekend Skylias moderated a debated between John Michael Godier and Fraser Cain over their Fermi paradox theories. If there are aliens where are they? The Fermi paradox theory asks where are the alien civilizations in the galaxy? And in the universe. If they exist. Where are the extraterrestrials?

Cold Quasars: The Death of Galaxies with Dr. Allison Kirkpatrick

Cold Quasars: The Death of Galaxies with Dr. Allison Kirkpatrick

What are quasars? Are Black Holes Really Black? Dr. Allison Kirkpatrick, astrophysicist at the University of Kansas, recently announced her discovery of cold quasars a new object in the field of astronomy — galaxies featuring an abundance of cold gas that can produce new stars despite having a quasar at the center. The breakthrough finding overturns assumptions about the end state of galaxies and may represent a phase of the death of a galaxy that was previously unknown. John Michael Godlier spoke to Dr. Kirkpatrick about this discovery as well as the future of the Milky Way galaxy and its eventual merger with Andromeda. Discussing if we will need to worry about a future where our galaxy becomes a quasar and earth possibly becomes in the path of a blazar. As well as how supermassive black holes collide, if black holes are really black and how black holes can get ejected due to collisions and wander through the universe unseen.

Are Alien Civilizations Sending Signals in Bacteria? with Dr. Robert Zubrin

Are Alien Civilizations Sending Signals in Bacteria? with Dr. Robert Zubrin

Alien space probes? Are there alien civilizations? The search for extraterrestrial intelligence has mainly focused on searching for radio signals. However, John Michael Godlier spoke with Dr. Robert Zubrin about a new theory he proposes which posits that alien space probes would be seeding life throughout the universe using bacteria. Are alien civilizations sending signs? If so, Dr. Zubrin proposes that we search for these microbes, a form of deep space communication, within our own solar system on Mars, Venus, and Titan. He also asks if bacteria was sent to Earth from another intelligent alien civilization as a form of panspermia.

Can We Save Schrödinger’s Cat? with Yale’s Dr. Zlatko Minev

Can We Save Schrödinger’s Cat? with Yale’s Dr. Zlatko Minev

Schrödinger’s Cat Can it be saved? A group of Yale researchers made quantum physics news by figuring out how to catch and save Schrödinger’s cat. A symbol of quantum superposition and unpredictability. Through observations they are able to anticipate its quantum jumps and act in real time to save it from proverbial doom. This episode goes over it in detail but, Schrödinger’s cat explained briefly, it is the paradox used to illustrate the concept of superposition and quantum jumps and unpredictability in quantum physics. John Michael Godier spoke with Yale’s Dr. Zlatko Minev and he explained what this new experiment and paper is, as well as how quantum physics works. He also discussed how this relates to Einstein’s quantum theory as well as if this will lead to new and exciting developments within the field of quantum mechanics and for the field of quantum computers 2019 and beyond.

Can We Travel Faster Than Light? with Dr. Miguel Alcubierre

Can We Travel Faster Than Light? with Dr. Miguel Alcubierre

Can humanity build an Alcubierre warp drive? Can we go faster than light? Dr. Miguel Alcubierre was inspired by Star Trek the Next Generation’s example of warp drive faster than light technology on the starship Enterprise. In 1994 he wrote a paper on how we could bend and warp space and time to travel faster than light within the rules of Einstein’s general relativity. NASA has and is currently exploring if it is possible to bend the fabric of space and achieve hyper fast space travel with the Eagle Works lab. John Michael Godier spoke with Dr. Miguel Alcubierre on the feasibility of the Alcubierre warp drive and if there has been any developments within physics, including the use of dark matter or dark energy, and anti-gravity, to be able to make this possible.
