Fast Radio Bursts, or FRBs are blasts of radio energy that hit Earth from outside the milky way galaxy, lasting only milliseconds before they disappear. Dr. Avi Loeb of Harvard University and Harvard Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics discusses the possibility that they could be leakage from highly powerful lasers pushing on light sails or other signs of advanced extraterrestrial intelligence. As well as the interstellar object known as ‘Oumuamua and if it is a solar sail or alien probe. Avi Loeb also discusses what are the most dangerous and immediate threats to life on earth from space, asteroid collisions, solar flares including the Carrington Event, and black holes.

Do we live in a simulation? The question of if reality is real is an old one and a new one. Would you choose to upload yourself into one. Would you become a copy of yourself or even worse a zombie, following programmed inputs losing freewill? John Michael Godier is joined with Dr. Travis Langley, author of Westworld Psychology where they discuss this and more.

The big bang is the term we use for the event that happened that started our universe, but what happened before? How does Einstein’s general relativity relate to the structure of space time at the earliest points of our universe. How much do we understand gravity, dark matter and Gravitational waves? John Michael Godier is joined in this bonus clip with Paul Sutter of the Ask A Spaceman YouTube Channel.

Episode 9: Dr. Karen J. Meech

John Michael Godier spoke to Dr. Karen Meech, who leads the Astrobiology research team at the University of Hawaii which discovered the first interstellar object, named ‘Oumuamua, by the Pan-STARRS 1 telescope. Dr. Meech’s team recently led the characterization to determine the size, shape, color and light curve of this first interstellar visitor from afar – ‘Oumuamua.

Event Horizon speaks with Avi Loeb about ‘Oumuamua

The first interstellar object, named ‘Oumuamua, was discovered in October 2017 by the Pan-STARRS 1 telescope in Hawaii. The object is of unknown origin and could be a comet or asteroid. However according to a recent paper by Dr. Avi Loeb of Harvard University and Harvard Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, it may possibly be an artificial alien light sail. We spoke to Dr. Loeb about that paper.
